Canceled reception: The artists we had lined up for our summer show

We had a great show lined up for this month, a beautiful combination of abstract work, landscape painting, and figures and city scenes. The blend of work by Toni Swarthout, Shane Miller, and Dirk Walker is a colorful, powerful synergy of styles, each totally different from the other, but complimentary in their distinctness.

This slideshow is a great example of each artist’s individual style. The rich colors and the motion of the figures in Dirk Walker’s piece, Chasing Dreams, is a wonderful compliment to the bold colors and soft edges of Toni Swarthout’s Paradise Circus.

Shane Miller’s In Good Faith rounds out the color palette with a soft, serene landscape reminiscent of autumn in the country.

While it’s disappointing to not be able to share these beautiful works in person with a reception, you can see how well these varied pieces work together.

Whenever we choose a group of artists to highlight with a show, we make sure to choose artists whose styles create a unique juxtaposition. The span of subject matter in this display is part of the charm, with Toni and Shane staying in the abstract and landscape genres, while Dirk works with human figures, cityscapes, and animals.

COVID-19 has derailed many plans and gatherings, and, while it’s not ideal for many reasons, we’re still glad to be able to share beautiful art with you online. Feel free to come by the gallery to see the works of these talented artists in person.
