Artist Information

Jude Remedios’ non-objective abstracts—painted intuitively and without boundaries—feature layers upon layers of mesmerizing, transparent washes intended to create an unending sense of fascination for the viewer.

Inspired by a youth spent growing up in the wilds of Alberta, Canada, Jude was continuously curious about and enamored by the spectacular beauty that surrounded her. As a result, she developed an uncontrollable urge to create and soon discovered that painting endlessly and intuitively she could produce abstract work that caused viewers to feel a connection to their own lives.

Armed with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alberta, Canada and later a masters degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Jude began her art career first as an art instructor and then as graphic designer. While in California she met her husband, where they settled in the San Francisco Bay Area and eventually had two sons.

To be closer to Jude’s Canadian family the family relocated from California to greater Vancouver, Canada in 2004. There she continued with her graphic design career by day and painted prolifically by night. Soon local galleries began to carry her work and in 2008 Jude received the “People’s Choice Award” from the Surrey Art Museum.

When her two sons showed musical prowess the family moved from Vancouver to Nashville. Jude became the brothers’ unofficial band manager, while at the same time, continuing to paint. Eventually her sons turned their attention to academia and Jude focused on her thriving art career.

Today Jude is represented by Bennett Galleries Nashville and Horizon Fine Art Gallery, Jackson Hole, WY. Her art is held in public collections throughout the Nashville area and can be found in private homes across the USA from Florida and New York to Washington and California. Internationally her work is held by collectors in Canada, England, Norway, Shanghai, Canary Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Jude continues to paint daily, inspired by the verdant lush woodland that surrounds her active home studio in greater Nashville.
