"At the heart of each work I make there is an exploration of the visual relationships that coexist between language and art.
Through complex layers of paint, markings, found material, and text sourced from the short fiction that I write, I juxtapose an intuitive aesthetic interpretation of a word or concept with a more universal understanding of the same theme.
The end result is less a deconstructed object and more an invitation for viewers to realize their own possibilities for abstraction. In this way, my work hopes to highlight the intangible space between cognitive processing and imaginative thinking that exists within each of us." -Karen Laborde
