About the artist
Bulter Steltemeier is a widely collected award-winning watercolorist easily identified by her delightful animal portraiture, rich in color with uncommon intense gradation. In this new work, Butler invites viewers into her imagined universe of entomology where insects reign as royalty and bugs and beetles and grasshoppers become the crazy neighbors next door.
Steltemeier studied at Spring Hill College and at the New York Art League. She has received awards by the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society and is also listed in the Who’s Who of Alabama Women Painters. Her works can be found in the collections of the Tennessee State Museum, South Central Bell and American Airlines Headquarters. Private collectors include Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Joel, Steve Winwood, and Al and Tipper Gore.
