Artist Statement I was born in Birmingham, AL on February 14, 1974. My first art competition was in elementary school when my strange rendering of a monkey was chosen to exhibit at a local shopping mall. After that brief moment of fame, my artistic endeavors centered on matching lipstick and make-up, and occasionally jazzing up my room with my signature brand of creativity. Higher education was a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UAB. I worked in this field for several years, painting as a hobby and for my own personal enjoyment. With a lot of encouragement from family and friends, I began to enter my work in art shows and selling in upper end antique shops and other retail venues. This year, I was the top seller at the prestigious Mountain Brook Art Association show in Crestline. My work was also featured in the Alabama Symphony Orchestra's Decorator Show House last spring. Fortunately my success has been such that I was able to leave my engineering career behind and pursue what I really love. On a personal level, I have a wonderful 12 year old son named Eli who has a precious Pug named General Mao Foo Peng.
